I do think Bill played his character very well in The Girl in the Cafe but having seen him mostly play confident characters, it seemed very odd and not like him at all.

Both Kathy and I watched this and thought it was quite good. Really weird seeing Bill Nighy play such a introverted and painfully self conscious character.

It's been a while since we watched it so I can't really go into detail about what I thought. I do remember I thought the ending was a little weak... kind of fizzled out but not enough to spoil the story.

When we do go to the carols it really doesn't matter who the featured act is, we just go for the atmosphere and the fireworks mostly. Paulini didn't win but she was a final twelve runner up on Australian Idol and has a fairly successful singing career ever since. I'm not much of a fan but it was free so worth a look.
