Probably better to be going to a Carols By Candlelight than watching TV! There was one on in Gosnells the same night in Pioneer Park, which I wouldn't mind to have gone to, as I haven't been to one for years. It would have been light going, but dark coming back.

Two ladies from my O.W.N group were going, and one only lives across the road from Homestead Rd, in Hartley St, and she is picked up by her friend Betty who lives at Kelmscott. They only seem to want the two of them along though, and they wouldn't think to ask me even though they know I'm on my own. Admittedly, they are a lot older than me, so maybe that's why. I go along there when I need a lift for the groups outings, when Betty is picking Elaine up.

They were taking a picnic tea down there, which a lot would have been until it got dark enough for the candles. It had been 35 degs C that day too, our first highest, so it would have been in the 20s for the night, so a good night.

James Morrison would have been good to see, if it's the one I'm thinking of.(is he a singer, or is it the jazz musician playing the clarinet?), but I didn't think much to Paulini on the Woolworth's Carols on the TV, as she took too many breaths where she shouldn't have. With a bit of training for breathing in the right places, she would be a good singer. (she didn't win did she but I saw she had a CD out awhile ago?) I taped it, but am going to watch it again, maybe tonight ,as I was on the comp when I put it on, and didn't take it in properly, and there were some good singers on, especially the one who sang John Lennon's song, 'Merry Christmas, War is Over', who I think is from Home and Away, but not sure. Actually, I think he was from 'Packed To The Rafters.' I liked the man singing 'Jerusalem' too.

That's the James Morrison I was thiniking of, but said 'singer' as well incase there was someone with the same name, as I didn't think that type of musician would be your cup of tea. I'm not one for jazz, but don't mind the clarinet, such as Acker Bilk (from the 60s, but still going I think, and his music is still out) and don't mind Glen Miller stuff, but not heavy jazz.

I've watched James Morrison on TV before, usually the 'Live at the Basement' I think on ABC TV, which is on at the moment later in the evening and I think they are repeats, but not sure. I've only looked out of curiosity, but he's been quite good to listen to. Forgot he sometimes plays a trumpet.

The one that sang the John Lennon song, 'Christmas - War is Over' was James Mcfadden or MacFadden the singer. I think his name was James, as I was supposed to be remembering it so I could look for a CD of his. He had blonde, short, smooth hair and didn't look all that old. His face looked a bit familiar, and his voice too. He had a sort of a soft husky voice, a bit like Brian Adams, whom I like too, and have a CD of. He made a good job of the song, but, 'course, it won't be on a CD with being a Christmas song, unless he has an album of Christmas songs, or that one on a mixture of Christmas songs.

I take it you will have watched this DVD by now, but haven't heard what you thought of it? I've seen it three times now. I first saw it on the TV, and it was good, but didn't know if I wanted to buy it or not. They repeated it, as I said in my previous post, but at a later time than usual, and I watched it, and enjoyed it better the second time around.

I bought one for myself when I bought yours, as they were selling them $10 cheaper to get rid of them, as they said at the ABC shop, that it hadn't been a quick seller. They actually ordered it in for me from one of the other shops, and when she told me the price, I said to send two. They had three at the other shop, and sent all three, even though the sales assistant didn't want the other one. They sold the last one even cheaper!

I watched it again when I got it, and now I quite like it, it's one I can watch again anytime. I think it is better on the second watching - good story, well done, and of course the two main actors are good too ie: Bill Nighy and Kelly MacDonald.

No, you didn't comment on it, as you can see. I think Bill Nighy plays that type of character very well - I think it suits him, but, then, he played the boss very well in 'State Of Play' and the gay person in 'Love Actually' which shows his diversity!

I wondered if Kathy ever watched any of the British dramas I send. I thought it fizzled a bit too, but it showed that they were maybe going to keep in touch, and she did make a difference! You may get more from the second viewing of it, if ever you're short of something to watch, or just want to enjoy it again. Kelly Macdonald is very good too.
